Yo, Yo, Yo in my classic “I’m a strong-badass-chick-don’t-mess-with-me AND I’m super-sweet-fun-and-lovable” voice.
Thanks for stopping by! I’m Ursula and if you haven’t already guessed it, I live and breathe health and wellness – and helping women get strong, healthy, and feel sexy is my specialty.
Want to hear how giving women the tools and guidance to achieve health and wellness became my life? Of course you do (we all love a good story). My story is full of cookies, sweets, and fried foods – you can probably relate, right?
Growing up, family events (heck, ANY event – weekends were events) revolved around food and especially cookies, cakes, anything fried, and sodas. Without being aware of it, I equated eating this type of food with happiness and fun times – french fries and baked goods were my kryptonite.
So it’s no surprise that I started to crave this “junk food” when I was feeling down in the dumps or just dealing with the craziness of my teenage and college years – remember the late nights, grueling exam schedules, and college parties (all while trying to feel comfortable in your own skin –both inside and out ). It’s definitely not a coincidence that I remember feeling both physically and mentally worn-out – my body was sluggish, bloated, and I had no energy.
While I was studying Psychology and Mental Health Counseling, I finally realized that I had been using these “junk foods” to soothe emotional pain in my life – a trick I had learned from my childhood. While I already knew I wanted to devote my time to helping others, I decided I needed to first help myself both mentally and physically (there was already diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and high blood pressure in my family that I wanted no part of)! And just so you know, when I decide something, I mean business!
Of course, like everything in life saying and doing are two different things. I knew re-inventing my life and changing some life-long habits would take some serious WORK. But I was ready, I was a fighter! (Check out a song I used for some motivation at the time – it’s perfect if you need a little mid-day mental or physical lift! JUMP)
I started by listing out my goals and creating action steps to achieve them, building a strong support system (friends, family, mentors), and taking time to be alone and accept my role and responsibility in the way I had been feeling. I started following my action steps and next thing I knew, I was regularly working out and cooking healthier versions of the foods I loved. I had successfully created new, healthy habits that allowed me to be strong – physically and mentally! I fell in love with living a healthy lifestyle because I finally felt amazing – I had lots of energy, gained strength, lost fat, got sick less, and felt SEXY (yeah, all women deserve and can feel sexy). I knew I HAD to share it with other women, so I got my personal training certification and haven’t looked back since. Now I currently live on the island of Oahu and offer a variety of online programs as well as in-person training on the island.
If my story has FIRED you up and you’re sick and tired of just thinking about making a change in your health (or stopping if you hit a roadblock), jump on over to my work with me page and let’s DO THIS TOGETHER!
C’mon Ladies, Get Fired Up and Get Strong!
